Its no secret that pruning a tree doesn't cost the same as getting a hair cut, but neither is a trip to the E.R or a tree branch coming through the roof.

Tree pruning pricing shouldn't be a secret, so we'll shed some light on this by outlining the elements that influence service price.

Our pricing is determined by many factors such as:

•  How many trees (more work = volume discount)
•  Tree size

•  Pruning objectives
•  Location of tree
•  Accessibility

•  Complexity of job
•  Targets (such as fences, power lines, sheds)
•  Amount of clean up
•  Tree Condition

There really is no one price fits all as trees unfortunately have too many variables. No tree is the same.

"So how much does it cost to have a tree pruned?" (Price ranges below)

Example of pruning

In this pruning job, we performed what is called "restoration pruning". The purpose of this job was to restore the tree to a improved condition by removing dead, damaged and diseased branches.

Planning Process

Before any work begins or contracts are signed, we prioritize meticulous planning with you to ensure your tree can tolerate pruning and the optimal pruning of your tree, prioritizing its health above all else.

This also means that we cannot "top" your tree.

Topping is a unapproved practice by the ISA (International Society of Arborist) that leads to early tree mortality, high maintenance costs (job security for the company), and high likelihood of failure down the road.

Feel free to reach out to us for better alternatives to this common practice, or if you would like a second opinion for your tree project.

Quick tip! Keep your trees healthy and more $$$ in your pocket!

JP Quick tip #113
Steer clear of these extremely popular, yet damaging, tree pruning practices to safeguard your tree's health and vitality.

Here are 3 examples of EXTREMELY popular tree pruning practices that are promoted by other tree service contractors as "Healthy" for your tree, when in fact they are the complete opposite of healthy, and will cost you more money to maintain or remove later.

Pretty does not always mean healthy.

•Lion Tailing
•Topping
•Over pruning/pruning excessively large branches

Tree pruning price ranges

•Ornamental tree (small tree)

Pruning to improve structure, crown reduction, remove dead branches:

$79-$349 +/-

•Medium size tree

Pruning to improve structure, crown reduction, remove dead branches:

$399-$899 +/-

•Large size tree

Pruning to improve structure, crown reduction, remove dead branches

$499-$1899 +/-

•Tree topping

Pruning to reduce tree height (and destroy tree)

$0

Because trees should NOT be topped. Topping leads to early tree mortality, increases likelihood of tree failure and leads to VERY high maintenance. Good for the tree service $$$ bad for your wallet, and we're not in the tree topping business.

Price range for service

Being that no tree is the same and there are different pruning objectives and variables, we can't give you a exact price online.

However we can provide you with some ranges. (These are common ranges, your job could be more/less)

We can always adjust the scope of work to best fit your needs and budget.

Prior to initiating any work or signing contracts, we'll conduct a thorough assessment of the tree to ensure it can withstand pruning. This ensures we avoid working on trees that may not survive the pruning process, ultimately saving you money.

We use the ISA (International Society of Arborist) best management practices for every job. Meaning:

  • We will NEVER use tree climbing spikes to prune

  • We ALWAYS sanitize tools before moving on to the next tree to prevent spreading disease

  • We always prune with a objective and purpose in mind, we will never cut branches "just because"
